My Self

Hey! It’s me, Jennylyn Avila Garcia. I am 24 years old, from the town of Dulag Leyte, and I was born on August 16, 1998. My friends call me Jenn and Mem, but in my house, my family calls me Linggit, which means Batang Maliit. I love dance and studies, but supposedly dance and studies don’t love me. I am definitely a shy type of person, but once you belong to my true friends, you will observe that I am a talkative, friendly, and caring friend.

As of now, I am a second-year college student at the Visayas State University Tolosa Campus, and I took up a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. I am pursuing this course because I believe that I have the passion and talent to teach young children, and also because of my desire to help those children who are out-of-school youth or under the Alternative Learning System program. Yes, I want to help the children who are enrolled in the Alternative Learning System because I was one of the product of this program way back in the 2014-2015 school year.

I am 9 months pregnant and coming soon to be mommy to my first child, and deciding to continuing my studies is not easy because of my condition, which in my course makes it inevitable to experience lack of sleep, being tired, and always eating late. I worried about my baby’s health, but despite being a student and pregnant mother, I always believed in myself and my determination that someday it would pay off and I would become a professional teacher. My dreams in life are not only for myself but also for my baby and my family, who believe in me. Because for me, education is my love, but my family is my world, and they always remind me that no matter what happens to me in the face of my deepest challenges, I always deserve to be loved.
